Technical Details:
Conduct a feasibility study to develop a system to access a gas main under live gas conditions to perform various tasks related to the operation and maintenance of the gas distribution network.
Reducing excavation and maintenance costs requires the development of unique ways to access gas mains without disturbing the existing street infrastructure. This project utilizes the talents of two companies to investigate and develop methods to access and work on gas mains, using an existing gas service line or another entry system. The companies involved have developed unique concepts for a universal access system, a polymer-based service line rehabilitation system, a micro-camera and PCD sampling system, and a RF communication system and sensor wand.
This project will investigate, design and potentially develop the technologies proposed by both companies.
