Millennium
Project Number: M-2002-015
Project
Title: CISBOT
Project Start Date: 2002
Projected End Date: 2006
Technical Details:
The project's objective is to design, build
and field-test one complete, self-contained,
and field-ready robotic system capable of internally
injecting anaerobic sealant into 16", 20", 24",
30" and 36" cast iron bell and spigot joints.
The system is to be designed for both low (4"
to 12" water column) and medium (3 psi to 24
psi) pressure gas mains, work through a no-blow
permanently installed fitting on a LIVE gas
main with a perpendicular launch angle, and
reach up to 250 feet in each direction to seal
over 40 joints from one excavation.
The robotics designer is Engineering Services
Incorporated, and the field applications consultant
is ULC Robotics who along with the cofunding
gas utilities comprise the advisory group that
is steering the project.
