Millennium
Project Number: M-2001-001
Project Title: Global Technology
Transfer Alliance
Project Start Date: 2001
Projected End Date: 2003
Technical Details:
Also referred
to as the G2TA, this is an alliance of gas utilities
that have joined together with GTI in an effort
to identify and evaluate overseas operational
technologies for potential development and adoption
by the US gas industry. In a long-term effort,
the alliance members work with technology developers
to adapt and bring their products to the US
market. As such, alliance members can join with
manufacturers to influence design and foster
development of enhancements.
Recent
past technology development and transfer efforts
have included internal inspection devices, squeeze-off
tools, and plastic tapping tools. Technologies
being reviewed in the latest round include cast-iron
replacement, condition assessment and live inspection
tools.
The project was completed in 2003 and no further funding was committed by KeySpan to this effort.
